New MDC presidential spokesperson dismisses ZANU PF as a party of the past

Dr Nkululeko Sibanda

By Collins Chirinda

Newly appointed spokesperson for the MDC Alliance presidential candidate, Dr. Nkululeko Sibanda has challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to a presidential debate with Advocate Nelson Chamisa to prove that Nelson Chamisa is the man to vote for in the upcoming harmonised elections.

Addressing a press conference that was organized to introduce him to journalists working from t Media Centre in Harare, Dr. Sibanda said the MDC’s manifesto was proof that Zanu PF is a party that represented the past and is not futuristic.

“The decisions that are made by the president of this country reflect who we are. The president (Chamisa) has shown more maturity. If anyone doesn’t believe that, convince President Mnangagwa to do a one on one debate with President Nelson Chamisa. You will see who has the presidential stance, speech and courage,” said Dr. Sibanda.

Dr. Sibanda made reference to the opening sections of MDC Alliance and ZANU PF manifestos saying the ZANU PF manifesto’s opening Chapters are a review of President Mnangagwa’s history while the  MDC manifesto is an insight into the future.

“As you  can see,  president Chamisa has the courage to do what has not been done before because that is what leadership requires. If you take the idea that he is youthful; if you look at our manifesto, chapter one is talking about how we are going to progress, how we are going to lead this country into the future,” he said

“When you look at president Mnangagwa’s manifesto, the whole first chapter is talking about how he has been in politics for the past 50 something years.

“His and President Chamisa’s  are two distinct visions. The other is  a vision for the future and the other is a vision from the past,” Dr. Sibanda stated.
