    Lionel Dyck, a celebrated figure in African military circles, has passed away in Cape Town after a courageous battle with cancer. The retired colonel’s distinguished career spanned over two decades, with notable service in the Rhodesian Army and later the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA).

    Dyck’s most notable achievement was his instrumental role in neutralizing the Renamo insurgency in Mozambique during the 1980s, earning him the esteemed Silver Cross of Zimbabwe. Following his military tenure, he founded the Dyck Advisory Group (DAG), a private military company specializing in demining, anti-poaching, and security services.

    His remarkable life and legacy have left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him and the regions he served. Dyck’s unwavering dedication to safety, conservation, and humanitarian causes will be deeply remembered and honored. His passing marks the end of an era, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
