Miss Ji In Gu, a 27 year old, from South Korea died last year at the hands of her family after coercive conversion pastors convinced her family to force her to change her religious beliefs. In a country, where freedom of religion is guaranteed by its Constitution, pastors who use coercive conversion as a means of generating income are still formulating and encouraging such programmes.
The pastors who belong to the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), coerce more with the parents or family and confinement in solitary confinement and try to forcefully change their beliefs without their consent.
Large-scale rallies were hosted globally including Southern Africa in commemoration of every death in order to create awareness and educate the public condemning coercive conversion. Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs has been working globally to raise awareness to all members of the community in Zimbabwe and the world.
