University of Zimbabwe Students Representative Committee has called all students to come back to the campus after the students were chased out of college by the authorities.
The University of Zimbabwe was temporarily closed recently after the lecturers went on a strike and students at the campus protested.
Addressing a press conference in the capital Student representative committee Spokesperson Ian Tawanda said the students are free to return to the campus as order has been restored.
“We call upon all students who are stranded to come back to college, meals will be served as usual,” said Tawanda.
Students were forced to travel back to their respective homes and this has angered the SRC which has demanded the authorities to compensate the students since the students met un-budgeted expenses during the chaos.
“We demand the University authorities to compensate the students since the expenses we met were not budgeted for,” said Tawanda.
Meanwhile the SRC has threatened to take the University of Zimbabwe to court for violating students rights.
“We are going to take the University of Zimbabwe to Court for breaching the contract, we paid our school fees but they decide to chase us from the campus” said SRC members.
