Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Chief Executive Officer Karikoga Kaseke applauded the move to host the South Africans saying that this will help to market the resort town of Victoria Falls.
“The South African rugby legends visit is a notable visit which will also go a long way in profiting the Victoria Falls destination,” Kaseke said.
The match is set to draw a following from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia though the legends from other countries are not going to participate as players but they will be spectators.
“The match is expected to draw a following from other countries though they are not going to play,” said the event organizer
The event will also give a coaching clinic to junior schools for the sake of uplifting the game in the country especially in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
‘There shall be a coaching clinic with the legends in the morning to encourage the growth of the game in our country,” said Kaseke.
Fans who spoke to the Zimsentinel applauded the initiative saying this will give them rare opportunity to watch some of the players who have made history in rugby.
“I am glad with such an initiative because it gives us the opportunity to watch some of the legends in action and this will inspire the young generation to emulate these legends,” said Ashirai Kuchera a rugby fan.
Another fan and rugby player Fungai Sithole could not hide his joy saying that the game will inspire him and encourage him to keep going strong in the game of rugby.
“I feel very humbled by such games as this will inspire me personally as a player and a big fan of the game, I hope the legends will be fit enough to show us what they used to do before they retired,” he said.
A South African Sport film crew will cover the match and all activities; Super sport has a dedicated rugby channel, which will help to screen the rugby activities.
“All the activities will be covered by Super Sport and we call upon our own ZBC TV to do the same like what they usually do during our events,” said Kaseke
Kaseke went on to encourage Zimbabweans to attend the match.
“We call up all Zimbabweans to support this event by attending the match and cheering on our Zimbabwean rugby legends and welcoming the South African rugby legends.
